A Pair Of French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Mahogany, Ormolu And Brocatelle Violette Marble Buffets
A most elegant and extremely high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI style mahogany, ormolu and Brocatelle Violette marble buffets. Each buffet is raised by fine circular fluted tapered legs with exceptional fitted sabots and mottled top caps. At the center of each buffet are three doors which open to reveal one adjustable shelf and the unique and most decorative mirrored back panel. The central doors display beautiful butterfly veneered panels framed within mottled beaded ormolu bands. The outer doors are decorated in the same manner and are separated by striking fluted columns with ormolu plinths and finely detailed foliate Ionic capitals. Above are three drawers also decorated with elegant recessed panels, framed in mottled beaded ormolu bands and separated by richly chased fitted foliate ormolu reserves in a beautiful satin and burnished finish. Above are the original thick Brocatelle Violette marble tops. All original gilt throughout.
