A French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Kingwood, Tulipwood, Ormolu, And Brèche Violette Marble Buffet
A superb and very elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. kingwood, tulipwood, ormolu, and Brèche Violette marble buffet. The three door buffet is raised by circular tapered legs decorated by lovely foliate sabots and mottled top caps with wrap around berried laurel bands. At the center are three doors each adorned with tied ribbon ormolu keyhole escutcheons and which open to reveal all original hardware, a charming and unique upright storage area to the left, and two shelves at the center and right. The central door is decorated with a striking and wonderfully executed exotic wood inlaid urn with flowers while the two outer doors display beautiful quarter veneered panels showcasing the rich wood grain. Each side is decorated in the same manner. The frieze displays an impressive and most decorative pierced interlocking geometric ormolu band with finely chased rosettes, acanthus leaves, and fine scrolled foliate mounts. Above is the original Brèche Violette marble top with a lovely mottled border. All original gilt throughout.
